Show Business: The Road to Broadway first came out in 2005 as part of a limited release on the big screen and went straight to DVD. However, much to the disappointment of musical theater afficiandos, the DVD itself was NOT captioned nor subtitled.
The film follows the progress of four musicals (WICKED, CAROLINE OR CHANGE, TABOO and AVENUE Q) from preproduction to Broadway. Of those, only WICKED and AVENUE Q are stil playing (WICKED at the Gershwin theater, AVENUE Q at the Golden theater until September 13 when it is scheduled to close).
Recently, it showed on TV with captions. So we thought - why does the DVD not have access yet when one goes to watch the TV version on an exclusive channel it is captioned?
So we decided to take matters in our own hands and manually add the captions to the film (split into 13 parts on YouTube) for the benefit of Deaf and HOH audiences. (Note to the producers: We will take down the YouTube versions when a captioned copy of the DVD is made/reissued but until then, they stay up).
Here we are, the first three installments of the series!
